Known as Biman, Biman Bangladesh Airline was established in February 1972 and it is the national carrier of Bangladesh. Biman operates from its main hub at the Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka to 29 international destinations, extending from New York City to Tokyo.
Until 23 July 2007 the airline was owned and managed by the government of Bangladesh. Now it is a public limited company that has headquarters, Balaka Bhaban, situated in Kurmitola, Dhaka. It is qualified as safe to fly in Europe by the European Aviation Safety Agency. Biman aims to fly the nation's bi-colored flag with great pride to greater heights across the globe. It has also passed the IATA Operational Safety Audit for successfully flying destinations in Asia and Europe.
Biman has a Frequent Flyer Program “the Biman Loyalty Club”. Membership has 3 tiered levels represented as Green Member, Silver Member, and Gold Member. Registered passenger can get extra benefits, special discounts and mileage rewards earned on every Biman flight.
For Economy class, each adult/child is allowed to bring on board one piece of baggage, either a handbag or a laptop bag, with maximum weight of 7 kg, not exceeding the following dimensions: 56 cm x 36 cm x 23 cm.
For Business class, each adult/child is allowed to bring on board one piece of baggage, either a handbag or a laptop bag, with a maximum weight of 10 kg, not exceeding the following dimensions: 56 cm x 36 cm x 23 cm.
For Economy class, the passenger is allowed to bring only two pieces of baggage with maximum weight of 20 kg.
For Business class, the passenger is allowed to bring only two pieces of baggage with maximum weight of 30 kg.
Moreover, the free baggage allowance of infants in all classes is 10 kg limited to one piece.
The option of online check-in is not available in Biman, bearing in mind that check-in counter closes one hour prior to departure time.
